Many problems come from losing perspective on reality, priorities and prioritization, sometimes to the point of making completely wrong decisions. In fact, some big mistakes in my life were in this direction. I have gone a long way just out of stubbornness, or while chasing a mirage or an idealized goal I had built up too much in my own mind. And I admit it.
You think something is important, so you put it first or close to the top of the list. You fight for it, work hard, put in time and effort, until one day you look back and ask yourself - why the hell am I doing this? And then comes that bad feeling inside, that little voice whispering: I told you so, didn’t I?
Sounds familiar, doesn’t it?
The bad part is that some things become clear much later, when you have already spent a lot of energy and resources on them. But better late than never, so once you see that something is wrong, you need to stop and think. To notice the small things and the signs that have been there all along, showing that there is a problem.
And not to become one of those people who keep going in the same direction just because they think something is already decided or somehow meant to be. Or because they have simply resigned themselves to the idea that there is no point in changing anything anymore.
Yes, it is hard to accept that you were wrong. It is even harder when other people are involved and they are following a decision you made. And when money is involved, things become even more difficult - do you throw away all the effort, the money and the time you have already invested, and start again from the beginning?
Tough question ....
This is where real courage comes in - to be honest and take responsibility. For everything you have said, for everything you have done. And to accept the shame that comes with being wrong. Above all, to yourself.
And to move forward.
